Voice recordings you create within the app
Text notes and entries you write
Photos you attach to entries
Titles, tags, and organizational data you add

Account Information (Optional):

Email address (only if you enable cloud backup)
We do not collect passwords - authentication uses secure email verification

How Your Data Is Stored

Local Storage (Default): By default, all your data is stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to this data.

Cloud Backup (Optional): If you choose to enable cloud backup, your entries are encrypted and stored on secure servers to allow syncing across devices and family access.

How We Use Your Information

To provide the core app functionality (recording, organizing, and playing back entries)
To enable optional cloud backup and sync features
To provide AI-powered features when you use the AI Assistant (requires internet)
To improve our services and fix technical issues

AI Features

When you use the AI Assistant feature:

Your questions are sent to our servers and processed using OpenAI's API
We do not store your AI conversations
Voice transcription is processed using speech-to-text services
AI features require an internet connection and your own OpenAI API key

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

Service providers who help us operate the app (e.g., cloud hosting, AI processing)
When required by law or to protect our rights
When you explicitly choose to export or share your data

Data Security

Optional biometric protection (Face ID/Touch ID) for app access
Encrypted data transmission for cloud features
Secure credential storage on your device

Your Rights

Access: Export all your data at any time using the Backup feature
Delete: Delete individual entries or all data from Settings
Portability: Export your Vault as a shareable file
Disconnect: Disconnect from cloud backup at any time

Children's Privacy

Breadcrumbs is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
